Who We Are

Vitaka Consulting was founded in 2016 by Victoria Manning to provide waste planning services to public and private sector clients.

Vitaka is a chartered town planning consultancy with a specialism in waste planning, combining knowledge of planning policy, strategic planning and the waste sector.

Vitaka can provide expertise at all stages of Local Plan preparation from developing a robust evidence base, policy formulation, plan preparation, consultation and participation in public hearings. We have considerable experience of cross-boundary working, including the duty to co-operate and statements of common ground, and are considered experts in this field.

Vitaka also offers site appraisals, advice and supporting documentation for planning applications, and assistance to operators with making representations to Local Plans.

Vitaka's Director, Victoria Manning, is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).  She is a former member of the Royal Town Planning Institute's International Committee.

Victoria is the Chair of the London Waste Planning Forum. The Forum brings together London boroughs with representatives from GLA, Environment Agency, London Councils, private and third sector organisations and neighbouring regions.  Vitaka benefits from this expertise in London-specific planning issues.

Victoria regularly delivers presentations on waste planning on behalf of the RTPI and CIWM and has written a number of articles on the subject.  She was the 2019 recipient of CIWM’s Ben Heath Certificate for Outstanding Presentations.

Victoria is a member of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP).

Vitaka Consulting is an enthusiastic supporter of WasteAid, a charity which develops waste collection and recycling programmes in the world’s poorest places.  Vitaka is open to opportunities to improve waste management systems in lower- and middle-income countries.
